HPA-200 Special Edition Headphone Amplifier
Reviewer: Laurence from Robinson -5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars 5 Stars
Hi Brent, HPA100 headphone amp upgraded to HPA200 SE. Incredible upgrade!! Absolutely beyond belief. Brent advised me through the whole process, and upon delivery was simply speechless at the difference!! I cant say any more than that, speechless!!! It is superb. Makes a mokery of Sennheisers own 2000 grand amp and also the Questyle CMA800 which are both on the bright side. For my personal liking. This is customer service at its very best!!!! Will be doing a full review as soon as time permits!!! I cant tell you mate how good this amp is its incredible!!!. It makes me laugh when reviewers say the HD800 is a bit bright!! Rubbish it's the amp they are using!!!. Its a beautiful smooth realistic sound, and funny enough in the classical genre recordings tend to be a bit thin!! This amp seems to even out these deficiencies in the recordings. It's really quite spectacular Brent. Thank you so much and I will forward you my review as soon as I can Kind regards Laurence

Hi Brent, I just thought I would let you know how im getting on with ultra x. I plugged it in the moment it was delivered and instantly I could tell the diffence. After a week of constantly running the systems dynamics have been taken to whole new level. The detail and dynamics are just out of this world, the music has far more emotion and the sound stage just opens up!. If any one is thinking of buying one don’t wait your missing out so much!!!!. The best £375 ive ever spent!

Wow. I have had many clocks over the years but this one shines above them all. Detail, clarity, separation, bass depth. I 100% recommend this item.

Fidelity Audio Pre-120 SE
Reviewer: Raymond from Bristol - 5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars 5 Stars
Its been a week now so I thought I would drop you a line with my thoughts.... Well actually I have been very impressed, the unit has certainly done what I wanted it to do, but also made improvements in other areas too. The sound is certainly warmer and more analogue sounding, more toe tapping and seems more soulful if you know what I mean. Musicians sound like they are enjoying themselves more and not just doing a job of work! There is no loss of detail which I did fear may have been a side effect – if anything there is more detail, or maybe it’s the same information but presented differently. What I am surprised about is the increase in bass, this is very welcome as I use small stand mount speakers, but not something I was expecting. The sound now is more full bodied and more enjoyable to listen to, and all in all I’m very pleased with my purchase – I would definitely recommend it to anyone in a similar situation to me. The future is definitely analogue for me – at least as far as the preamp is concerned .... It’s a great little product – hopefully you will sell plenty more of them ...... If I were a reviewer I would definitely be giving it 5 stars and a “recommended product” status 😊

Oppo UDP-205 Power Supply - Very low noise linear PSU

Just fitted the linear power supply and what a difference. The low level hash and haze has gone. The bass has improved too - deeper with more definition. What mod do you recommend next?

Fidelity Audio DM1 CD Demagnetiser - SACD, XRCD, SHMCD
Reviewer: Chris Dixon from Bristol - 5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars 5 Stars
Hi Brent, This was one product I felt sceptical about(not that I have anything to worry about with your products.....always exceeded expectations!). This is probably because it is not immediate obvious technology. Your opinion and reviews are right. It is similar to reclocking, giving extra detail across the spectrum. The most noticeable aspect is the slam and extra emphasis on transients whilst staying very neutral. This is a brilliant, unusual product but works extremely well. Cheers Brent. Well done.

Oppo UDP-205 Signature Upgrade
Reviewer: Mick Ryan from Tamworth - 5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars 5 Stars
Went for the signature upgrade as the Oppo is my main source for both music and film , the player was already good but the upgrades took both sound and picture to a new level giving more detail and depth even after very little play time . 4k films especially came to life, cd,s sounded more natural . Thanks Brent.

Sonos Signature Upgrade (ZP80 90 Connect)

Hi folks, I'm the lead installer at Listening Rooms CI Ltd. My boss recently got you to do an upgrade on a Sonos Connect. I've been testing it since you supplied and I must say it sounded damned good out of the box but after many hours of listening, I've found it's quite astoundingly good. Sadly now I have to give it back and I've gone back to my regular Sonos Connect and it sounds like I've thrown a blanket over my speakers. I can't stand it. Congratulations on a job well done, It stands up against this Arcam CD and nearly as good as the Krell. Thanks Steve

I've been using this PSU for over a year now with my "Fidelity Audio" upgraded SqueezeBox Touch - it sounds fantastic. I've tried a variety of different PSU's with the Touch but this one is by far the best. It sounds so much more detailed than any of the others - definitely worth the money and highly recommended.

Hi Brent, Thought i would send an email about my initial impressions….absolutley fantastic….as soon as i put the headphones on and as soon as it went thru the power amps either way it is superb…classical music is stunning i mean takes your breath away……jazz stunning, reggae, folk, opera, it just gives and gives. I am not in the position to comment on other systems , my knowledge is very limited but i think it is giving a very good balanced sound…..i had the headphones on for 6 hours and my ears where not fatigued…..definately worth every penny…..i think Quad have really let themselves down. My friend, a quad 77 owner ,wants to compare it to his side by side, but he was very impressed too. I cannot impress on you Brent how happy i am with this player….if any enquiring customer is umming and arring about whether or not to go for it…get them to speak to me any time P.S just played Janis Joplin’s first album unbelievable ….you definately are no fly by night outfit…..you really do what it says on the tin All the very best Philip

Squeezebox Touch - Level 2
Reviewer: Arthur Barton from Hereford - 5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars 5 Stars
Hello Brent, Just a quick note to tell you that the Squeezebox arrived in good nick, and has now been running for a week without any issues. The sound is, as others have said in the past, much improved, and I am a very happy customer. I was using an iFi SPDIF iPurifier, which had improved the sound quality a touch, but your Level 2 upgrade takes the Squeezebox Touch into new territory; a genuine, and very worthwhile, upgrade. I now am no longer looking for a replacement streamer, which, as my SbT is set up with lots of add-ons (choice of library views, BBC iPlayer etc.), is making me very, very happy. Thank you for such a good, and reasonably-priced upgrade. Regards, Arthur Barton.

Arcam CD37 Level 2 upgrade

As promised some feedback regarding the level 2 upgrade, after 500 hours burn in. What can I say... Absolutely awesome! After the level one upgrade? I didn't expect this much more but the uber regs have given the sound a much more realistic, analog sound. More detail, larger soundstage, deeper but controlled bass along with more attack and slam. Fantastic.

M2TECH Young Dac PSU
Reviewer: Søren Larsen from Copenhagen Denmark - 5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars 5 Stars
I have tried other 3rd party power supplies for my M2Tech Young. This is definately the best. I have tried SBooster (first version) and iFi iPower. How does it sound? It doesn`t have much sound of its own, if any. It is very quiet. Dynamics and detail is much improved. Sound is very "calm". Instruments and voices sits exactly where they should be. No "wavering". I could go on, but just buy it. I am quite sure you won`t regret it.

Sonos Signature Upgrade (ZP80 90 Connect)
Reviewer: Chris from - 5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars 5 Stars
Got my Connect back with upgrade. Been running it in now for a few days. Amazing! I’ve got a NAS hi-res music library that’s nearly 1Tb and I am now revisiting old favourites with a renewed sense of listening to ‘proper music’. And Sonos’s Blue 101 jazz radio stream is like being in the studio with Chet Baker et al! Everything’s leagues better but the most immediately apparent difference is the clarity and separation of instruments across the spectrum – it all just sounds so right. Nearly as good as my vinyl front-end… I had a colleague (a Sonos/streaming sceptic) – and a vinyl and analogue nut like me – over for a listening session and all he could keep saying was: ‘this sounds like real quality audiophile hi-fi’. ‘Nuff said. I think you may be getting a new customer soon… For reference: Digital system is Cyrus DAC X Signature with PSX-R and a CDt, Croft Meganaut valve preamp and Cyrus power amps (4 x X Powers in mono mode, each with PSX-Rs) driving PMC Fact 3s in bi-amp config via Chord Reference Signature cables. There’s a also an analogue front end with AVID/SME/Sumiko?Croft Phono stage and an Audiolab DAB/FM Tuner. All sources (including yours) are fed by a PS Audio Power Plant Premier mains regenerator – the biggest single upgrade in terms of overall system performance I ever made… Regards Chris

Sonos Pro Upgrade (ZP80 90 Connect)
Reviewer: David from 5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars 5 Stars
Hi Brent just to let you know how the upgrades sound. The most noticeable benefit is the separation and soundstage. The separation of the instruments is amazing, I can hear every single instrument so clearly on old music as well as new digitally mixed releases. The soundstage is broad and deep which must also help with the separation. I do have another Sonos ZP80 so I can do comparisons which I think show the Sonos upgrade and power supply to be the biggest improvement but closely followed by the RDac upgrade and power supply. I am really pleased with the results,I’m sure some people would think it not worth the amount of money but if you are serious about listening to music you would have to have the upgrades. regards David

Have left my system running for the past few days with the new connect plus psu connected, still trying to run in a new headphone amp, so last night was my first chance to sit down and have a proper listen. WOW – the difference over the stock Connect that I also have is huge. The biggest difference is the arrival and decay of notes, miles more attack and longer decay against a much “blacker” background – listened to a FLAC copy of Dire Straits “Private Investigations” and the air and space around a couple of the guitar solo bits was incredible – genuinely gobsmacked! Fidelity Audio DM1 CD Demagnetiser - SACD, XRCD, SHMCD
Reviewer: Simon Winn-Smith from Surrey - 5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars5 Stars 5 Stars
I've not heard CD demagnetisers in action previously so have little to compare with in this regard, but have enjoyed using cleaners and anti-static products with some success. When mentally preparing myself for any changes, I'd anticipated any differences to be in line with these useful treatments or, more subtle, things like putting green pen around the edge of the disc (possibly not so audible changes when tried). But....my jaw practically hit the floor when the demag was demonstrated on a very high end system. CDs I know well were already impressing on the system but, after treatment, sounded almost unrecognisable as the same recordings! Most notable was the hugely increased dynamic slam, but this was achieved in an effortless way, without undue emphasis on any part of the spectrum. A natural-sounding improvement in timing and detail retrieval are also to be expected based on my experiences. Deeply impressive and worth every penny if you have a nice hi-fi and play CDs or SACDs.

After listening to various CD's which I thought sounded as good as they possibly could, I was amazed at the difference after running them through the demag. The music became more alive and filled the room. Instrumentals were more detailed and on closing your eyes, the speakers disappeared and the musicians were there. You could almost touch the vocalists. Tony F and Vi

WOW! I thought this was just another 'snake oil' product but after a visit to Fidelity Audio shop I was invited to a audition of this unassuming grey box. After an explanation of how it worked they loaded and demagnetised one of my cds I brought. The detail and sound stage opened up along with a much more textured sound. The dynamic swings were noticeably greater too. It was the same improvement on every cd we tried. I bought one got it home and have enjoyed going through my cd collection listening before and after demagnetising and it never fails to impress. LOVE IT! James

CD17 MK3 KI - Level 2 upgrade

To all those CD owners out there who haven’t made up their minds about how to upgrade, for the biggest Bang-4-The Buck…. If you are like me and have loads of old CD’s that you’re thinking of giving to your local charity shop and also, generally you think you’re missing something in what you’re hearing from your present system…then read on! I have a 22Kg Wadia player upstairs in one of my reception rooms that’s connected up to a ‘loads-a-money’ amp and speakers…and for around £8,000 the Wadia is very good indeed, particularly in terms of the sound-stage it throws out (It’s almost as good as the vinyl reproduction that I get off my Voyd Reference turn-table). However, down in my home-theatre room I now have a Marantz CD 17 KI Mk III, which Fidelity Audio has upgraded for something like £1500…and it seems to put the Wadia in the shade in terms of the detail it delivers. Indeed, it’s SHOCKING! Other than a $100k Mark Levinson system with huge Thiel speakers that I heard in the US a couple of years ago, it’s probably the most detailed reproduction that I’ve ever heard. However there is a downside… All those old CD’s have a new life now in that I’m getting what the guys in the recording studio put down…and I mean EVERYTHING they put down! So the charity shop is out of luck now…and my wife will go on complaining about the room that all those old CD’s take up. You may say £1500 is a lot to spend on an upgrade to a CD player that I bought off E-Bay for £450…and I would agree with you except for the fact that I don’t think anything this side of £5k can touch it. Finally, you may not agree with me regarding the old maxim: “You will have forgotten the cost in a few months…But you’ll never forget the dissatisfaction of not achieving what you really want!” So my advice is… Get ready to trust the guys up in Doncaster with your hard earned £1500 and most of all… …GET READY TO BE SHOCKED!! Fidelity Audio NN Z Speaker filters (PAIR)

After fitting them to the speaker terminals a lower noise floor was immediately apparent, much less high frequency hash, clearer voices , better separation . Quite an achievement straight from the box and also considering I already have in place Russ Andrews zapperators at each end of the speaker cable! This again shows the superiority of your products versus comparable products from Russ Andrews. I look forward to continued improvement over the next few months as the burn-in progresses. Keep producing those excellent value for money products. Brian D

Another fantastic product, which does what it says on the tin. The biggest thing I noticed after the burn in period of 100 hours was the size of the soundstage-it opened up wider and the overall effect was an extra emphasis on detail. The products should really sell themselves with the quality, price and working to a high standard,as they do. Thanks Kind regards, Chris

“I can already hear extra detail and smoothness after only 7 hours of being plugged . The first NN Ultra SE took around 5 days for a step change improvement to be heard and was still improving after 9 days. I do not expect to hear the full potential until 3 weeks, near the 500hour mark rule. These work very well with the Russ Andrews clarity mains plugs I have plugged into the Tacima extension strip in the spare socket next to the socket supplying the mains conditioner feeding the amp and CD player. The Fidelity plugs certainly live up to the claims made and are superior to the Russ Andrews products in both performance and value for money.”

The unit doesn't seem to suffer with the strangulation of sound and vibrancy of image that can come from other mains filtering units. I'd say I am 100% satisfied!' Nice doing business with you. Fin

Hi Brent, Just to let you know, I’ve had great results with the Fidelty Audio NN Ultra X Pro Mains Purifier (now called NNU X). I now have my full soundstage back and don’t have to sit up until 2am to hear my system at its best (though I probably will)! As well as fixing my wonky soundstage, I’ve also noticed how much tighter the bass sounds. All round a great improvement and probably the best value for money hi fi investment I’ve ever made! Many thanks, Graham

Hi Brent, Thanks for the efficient processing of my upgrade. Going from a No Noise x to Pro fitted with HF filter made me wonder how much more I’d get from this upgrade (NNUX REF). I am now not far off full burn in time, again the journey varies with immediate improvement with clarity which towards the end, once burnt in the bass tightens up nicely with a fantastic soundstage. I think the HF filter adds to the emphasis of transients (leading edges). The pro is used also with balanced mains, which might sound like overkill but the Pro makes a superb difference in it’s own right. This upgrade is well worth the money. It is probably not too dissimilar to the New Pro reference, but I suspect that with the improved capacitors, Furutech socket and Kimber wiring in the Reference you will squeeze even more out of your system knowing Brent’s engineering skills!! Invest your money wisely, rather than get something less capable from other Mains Product companies. Thanks Brent Chris Dixon
