NNX Filter
Verified Purchase
Fidelity Audio's mains filters are superlative in their performance. I now have three of them: The NNX----NNQNC and the NNSEQNC. Connecting the NNX at the entry point (wall socket) and the other two as close to the system (mains extention block) as possible was quite frankly a revelation in my system . After reading about conducted and radiated emissions on the Web it made perfect sense to fit the QNC filters (this is what they are designed for I would have thought) as close to the system as possible. I have since added 1 and then 2 more plug in filters (still burning in) to the QNC for even more enhanced sound quality. ----The best way to describe what I hear now is a much much bigger sound, like blowing more air into a party balloon to expand it! That's what the music sounds like, much more believable and true to life. Bass is without doubt better developed, more rounded and just about right. Completely gone is that ' HI-FI' presentation, replaced with real life sounding natural instruments. On taking off the top cover of the QNCs filter to fit the added plug-ins you can appreciate the build quality, design and components that have gone inside to make these filters work in the way they do. These filters are designed to reduce RFI and EMI as much as possible, and I really think you can hear that. 100% recommend.

Less Gives You More!
Do you get tired of the ‘sort your mains out first’ mantra? I found it difficult to wholly believe that it is so crucial to achieve the best from your equipment. That was till I took Brent’s advice and stopped ‘fiddling’ in the middle and sorted the source.
I had to do a bit of re-jigging and turn my three main’s spurs into a single ring. (Spurs recommended by a well known HiFi Guru who has since changed to recommending a ring circuit!!)
Just to add to my incredulity the device is simply inserted into a mains socket on the ring. So, it seems like it has little to do with hi-fi! That is till you get a bit more understanding of the ring and how it works (I am not an electrical engineer).
The result, an improvement for sure, but it needs 600 hours of use to come on song. Slowly the veils lift, the soft focus lessens etc, etc. You unplug it and wonder how you kept listening to your system before the advent of the No Noise Ultra X MK2!
The ‘N’ word is the best I can come up with. The natural unforced presentation a real joy. Rather than making it sound laid back or soft the opposite is true. The audible increase in dynamic range means that leading edges start faster and cleaner. I believe I now am actually enjoying the feted ‘micro dynamics’. Listening to very familiar tracks you find you are often saying things like ‘ahh, now I understand why they played it like that!’ or ‘oh where did that vocalist come from, not there before?!’

NN Ultra X MK2 Mains Purifier Reference
Well what can I say, I purchased this mains purifier after reading the reviews of Fidelity Audio products and in particular the NN Ultra X Mk2 Purifier. I like have caught that awful HiFi bug of looking for the best sound that I can afford and I already have a pretty decent set up, but thought I should see if I could improve upon my already pretty decent sounding system. Now mains purifiers can seem to some to belong to the realms of magic and fantasy, especially the so called ‘shunt technology’ but I felt that I should give it a try and invest in a mains purifier and see if it actually worked. Taking the plunge I opted for the Fidelity Audio Reference Mains Purifier at a cost of over £500 (do not tell my wife as that’s the flight to Spain budget gone). The unit arrived, as advertised, in just over a week from placing my order. Upon first inspection it was a nice shiny box and quite light in weight and I must say that I was quite sceptical that I would hear any difference in the sound of my system but the reviews and the advertising narrative told be that I would. I plugged it into my mains hub, as that's all you need to do, it does not actually connect into the HiFi, which is the very strange thing about it and something that is and will be very hard to explain to non audiophiles and to my wife!! I turned on the unit and selected a well loved CD expecting the same quality that I regularly enjoy and to hear no noticeable difference. Well would you believe it, all the hype from the marketing narrative and the customer reviews are all very true, I could not quite believe the additional detail, the expansive sound, the tightness of the bass, all very apparent and there in great abundance before my very ears. I must say that I was and still am quite astounded that my already very good sounding system is much better than it was before connecting up this ‘magic’ box. I am really pleased and also very relieved that my not inconsiderable investment in this Fidelity Audio NN Ultra Mk2 Purifier has not just improved but vastly improved the sound of my system and made me a very happy chappy indeed. Thanks Fidelity Audio, I look forward to my next purchase with you, once I have come back from Spain that is.

Hi Brent, I just thought I would let you know how im getting on with ultra x. I plugged it in the moment it was delivered and instantly I could tell the diffence. After a week of constantly running the systems dynamics have been taken to whole new level. The detail and dynamics are just out of this world, the music has far more emotion and the sound stage just opens up!. If any one is thinking of buying one don’t wait your missing out so much!!!!. The best £375 ive ever spent!
