Amazing little device!
Absolutely essential to any player you want to extract the best image and sound from!
It's a shame they're hidden under the players exterior as these are little works of art!
I have a duel C5 signature set up in my Reavon along with a pair of X1 voltage regulators for each.
Do they make a difference! Yes a noticeable one too!
As other reviews have quite rightly pointed out image and sound improve significantly!
They take a while to run in but from the get go image looks better as does sound separation,
After burn in image is stable and well defined,
Sound becomes slightly warmer on my set up , more noticeable in stereo content , while multiple surround effects come across more defined ,.
I end up hearing sounds I wasn't totally aware of before!
These boards are packed with onboard tech but adding the X1 compliments their ability to send the cleanest signals possible.
I played back to back movies and music on my X800 Sony which plays CD and HD blu ray very well .
The x800 is impressive but the processing on the Reavon combined with it's mods does produce a nicer looking image that's not as brightened as the x800 , sound is more even from the Reavon on my B&W set up where before it had a more positive mid to treble sound sound with both players.
Now the Reavon sounds more natural, voices are warmer while bass and mids sound well rounded without cutting into each other , the top end is there but to my ears sound slightly less pronounced giving a more level sound where I can hear everything not just certain things.

Dynamic Duo
The combined effect of the C5 and X1 gives a real dynamic clarity, with all aspects of music appearing in front of you.
The sound stage increases and detail deeper in the mix is brought out. Bass extension is there in a realistic balanced way. Overall, a real satisfying live insight into the recording.
A superb combination upgrade.
Many thanks

C5 and X1 in a modded Panasonic 9000
I have been meaning to write this review for some time. The C5 and X1 have now been in for 2 months or so. It was a relatively time consuming job and Brent was very helpful as he needed to adjust the C5 output for the Panasonic as it unusually has a lower signal voltage. So a bespoke X1 and C5 were sent. At the same time as fitting the clocks, I did upgrade the LPS capacitors on the analogue side to Mundorf and Jensen with a 1% bypass electrolytic. So its hard for me to be 100% objective with where the benefits came from. However these two mods have taken the player to a different level. It's now performing at a level that is way beyond my expectations. Incredible dynamics, weight and exceptional timing (Or that musicality that we all crave). I compared this player to a high end Audio Note DAC, driven by the internal transport so a fair comparison. This multichannel DAC was actually better in a number of areas (the bass had more weight and slam and bass was better differentiated) the AN was sweeter and had more harmonic tonality, slightly better upper mid clarity, but also less actual overall resolution. It was a close call which was better. In the end I was very happy with a close 2nd from the group of audiophiles who listened. In fact the owner had listened to many DACs over the years and was amazed how good it was.
Okay list of what I believe the clocks are responsible for
1. Much less 'digital' hash and a much improved sense of blackness and more analogue
2. Improved dynamics and scale
3. A greater musical insight, a much greater sense of things happening in front of you
4. Increased resolution and clarity (More like listening to a better recording, with a greater ability to listen deeper into the performance)
5. A greater sense of ease, flow and scale
In respect of the picture, this also showed improvements, with a more analogue look to the projector, better motion, more stability and a little more image depth. So a very worthwhile improvement to the picture as well. I already have a C5 and two C4's in my Lumagen and this now made me order two X1's for the Lumagen so I can take the image as far as I can before spending silly money on a new PJ !

Brilliant
I have one of these fitted to my S100 Melco switch and another to my Oppo BDP-203. The difference in both cases is not subtle. For the Melco switch the result is a blacker background, a smoother sound, more energy to bass and midrange, an increase in soundstage, both width and depth. The result is also obvious with my Apple TV - the picture is sharper, more vivid, colours are more intense, there is less noise, the motion handling is better. It's a similar story with my Oppo but I would highlight increased sharpness, less noise, more realistic colours (particularly obvious with Dolby Vision content) and, again, better motion handling. The uplift in picture & sound quality is not small and, while I don't have my Pioneer to compare with any longer, I believe that with the upgrades Oppo beats it. Not a small price to pay but, if you want the best, don't hesitate to get in touch with Brent.
