When the iPod docks with the Wadia 170 iTransport audiophile-grade media server it turns any iPod player into a high-end media server by providing a bit-perfect digital audio output to an audio/video system. It does this by bypassing the player's internal DAC conversion and analogue output stage. As a result, the audio signal remains pure and intact. This takes advantage of high resolution file formats such as .WAV and Apple Lossless .m4a.
